7 Reasons "Not" To Become A Teen Parent:
By:  Min. Lisa Spears, M.A., LPC/i
It's easy to end up in the wrong place, when you don't plan and take the steps to get you where you want to go.  Being a teen parent may look easy, but those with children know differently.  Here are some reasons not to become a teen parent:

1.  Statistics show that this lowers your chances (and your child's) of finishing high school.
2.  You will have less money (a lot less!).
3.  Real parenting is hard work.  If you don't want to give up your fun, don't do it.
4.  Get ready for "babyMama" or "babyDaddy" drama, if you don't marry and stay with your baby's other parent. Parenting with more than two adults "in charge" is often hard to handle and confusing for children.

5.  If you break up with your boy/girlfriend, do you want to be connected forever?
6.  What if you have a baby with someone who has no goals in life?  Give yourself the best options.
7. Finally, a common problem for those needing counseling is dealing with the rejection of a father or mother. This is often an unintentional side effect of parenting before one is ready.
